With the holiday season upon us, we want to ensure that everyone is safe when decorating. We don’t want a joyful time of the year to be soiled by tragedy. Here is some information to help stay safe. 

At around 1:30 PM on December 3, 2019, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 responded mutual aid with St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District #7 off of Racehorse Rd. on a large field on fire. The fire at times was in danger of spreading to the woods, vehicles, structures including a barn and threatening cows. The fire was knocked down and placed under control.

Cooking is something that brings families and friends together, but did you know that cooking fires are the number one cause of home fires and injuries in the home?

In the United States, over 173,000 fires a year involved cooking equipment.

Thanksgiving is the leading day for home fires involving cooking equipment with more than three times the average number.

Unattended cooking is one of the leading causes of cooking-related fires which can be easily prevented.

53% of the injuries related to cooking equipment were hurt in the attempts to extinguish a fire.

People ages 65 or older are more susceptible to cooking fire-related deaths.

Children 5 years or younger are more likely to touch hot cooking equipmen...

At around 7:30 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 responded to a vehicle crash near exit 5A involving a tow truck that lost control while exiting the interstate. The white pick-up truck was being towed by the truck that lost control. The single occupant/driver was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
