MUTUAL AID STRUCTURE FIRE

(VIDEO) At 12:45 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 responded mutual aid with St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District No. 7 (Hickory / Talisheek) on a residential structure fire. The fire occurred on Lynn Dr. in Hickory. Once we arrived on the scene, we found smoke and fire coming from the home. St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 8 (Abita) and St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1 (Slidell) were requested to assist with water and manpower. Water was needed because of the lack of fire hydrants nearby, and manpower was needed because it was hot outside. Acadian Ambulance responded as well to stand by for any potential medical needs. The fire was knocked down but was stubborn in an attic space near the center of the structure. That took some time to access and fully extinguish. The fire was extinguished, and the situation was placed under control. Fortunately, the homeowners were outside at the time of the fire but could get most of the pets out. Three out of four pets were released, but one dog sadly could not escape. The property appears to be a total loss. The American Red Cross of Louisiana was contacted to assist the homeowners with immediate needs. The cause of the fire at this time is undetermined. No injuries resulted from the fire.
