FISCHER SWORN IN TO SECOND TERM ON THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD
On Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 fire board and civil service board meetings, Mr. Douglas Fischer was sworn in for a second term as the Chairman on the St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 civil service board. As required by the rules and regulations, board members must reside within the boundaries of St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11. After his retirement as a long time teacher from Pearl River High School, Mr. Fischer continues to be involved with the community along with many other involvements and accolades he has graciously accepted to serve on the fire department's civil service board. Mr. Fischer makes up one member out of three of the civil service board. One member is elected by the full time fire department personnel, one member is recommended by the fire board of commissioners and in Mr. Fischer's case, he is recommended by area colleges and universities. Floyd Trascher, Secretary of the St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 board of commissioners said "Mr. Fischer was recommended to serve on the civil service board by local colleges and universities. He is currently serving his second term and has been a huge asset to the civil service board and to St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11."
