RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE
Busy morning for our personnel. Just after 2:45 AM on Thursday, October 29, 2020 we responded to a structure fire in Twin Oaks mobile home park. Arriving units found a mobile home with heavy fire on the porch and entering the residence. St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 was requested to assist. The fire was quickly knocked out and placed under control.
One resident was transported via Acadian Ambulance to a local hospital to evaluate injuries. The other resident went on their own for an evaluation.
One cat was removed and administered oxygen and seemed to be doing well.
While the exact cause is not determined at the moment and we don't know everything leading up to the fire, we were informed by a resident that a portable generator was running on the porch and that it was on fire and spreading to the porch when it was discovered. If you are operating a portable generator, please do so safely, away from the home and on a surface that can't catch fire.
