While St. Tammany Parish does not have a specific ordinance for burning large piles during land clearing, our fire district has a simple and free permitting process to ensure these burns are done safely and responsibly.

Whether you're a private landowner or contractor, the process is the same:

1.Sign up through our Community Connect program. (Link below).

2. Once registered, select “Burn Permits” and click “Apply for Permit.”

3. We’ll review your application and likely schedule a site visit before approval.💡

Important: The Land Clearing Burn Permit is different from the general parish burn regulations. Burning within the ordinance does not require a permit. For full details:🔗
