RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE

PEARL RIVER, LA - At approximately 11:51 PM on Monday, January 27, 2020, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 responded to a residential structure fire on Nelson Rd. First units arrived on scene to find a house heavily involved in fire. St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 was requested for assistance with manpower and water. Pearl River Police Department was already on scene.

The fire attack was initiated but was hindered by busted gas lines within the residence that kept on feeding the fire. The gas meter and shut off were inaccessible initially due to the overgrowth of trees through the meter and shut off. Once the gas company arrived on scene, the gas was shut off and the fire was able to be placed under control.

It appears that the residence was not being occupied at the time of the fire and was possibly under renovation. The cause of the fire has not been determined. No fire department personnel were injured while fighting the fire.
