St. Tammany Parish has issued a Parish-wide burn ban for the next 30 days.

Parish President Pat Brister signed an Executive Order because of the lack or rainfall coupled with a lengthy period of extreme heat conditions that currently exist that allow for timber, underbrush and general vegetation to be extremely dry and easily flammable.

Outdoor burning is immediately prohibited, with the exception of prescribed burns by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF), those trained and certified by the LDAF, and by those who conduct prescribed burns as a “generally accepted agriculture practice” as defined by the Louisiana Rights to Farm Law (LSA R.S. 3:3601, et seq.).

Details on the burn ban issued by St. Tammany Parish.
