STRUCTURE FIRE
STRUCTURE FIRE Pearl River, LA Pine St. Saturday, September 8, 2018
In the early morning hours at 2:11 AM on Saturday, September 8, 2018, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 responded to a structure fire on Pine St. Units and personnel arrived on scene and found a large garage heavily involved with fire. Mutual aid was requested from St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1 (Slidell).
Handlines were deployed, and the fire attack was initiated. During the initial fire attack, several explosions were witness and it appears that it was from propane tanks that were stored being stored. While attacking the fire, our dispatchers were receiving calls from a residence behind the structure on Richland Dr. advising us that the fire was nearing their residence. Ladder 112 and a fire engine from St. Tammany Fire Protection District 1 (Slidell) responded to that location to protect the home.
The fire was knocked down and ultimately extinguished however the structure was a total loss prior to our units arriving on scene.
The call was dispatched at 2:11 AM and the first fire engine was on scene at 2:14 AM. The situation was placed under control at 2:48 AM (34 minutes). Personnel and units remained on scene to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished. No firefighters were injured while fighting fire and fortunately it was a free-standing storage garage, so no residence was directly impacted by the fire and no lives were in immediate danger. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
