VEHICLE FIRE

VEHICLE FIRE I-59 NEAR MILE MARKER 3 PEARL RIVER, LA

Shortly after 1 AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 received a call for a vehicle on fire near mile marker 3 on Interstate 59. Engine 111, engine 112 and medic 112 responded. While en route, units received notification via the Pearl River Police Department that the vehicle was heavily involved in flames and some explosions were occurring. Units arrived on the scene to find a utility type truck heavily involved in flames. Personnel pulled hose, initiated the fire attack and extinguished the fire.

No injuries occurred as a result of the fire. What started the fire is not known at this time. A wrecker was called to the scene to remove the vehicle once the fire was completely extinguished and the vehicle was cooled down.
