RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE

PEARL RIVER, LA – At 9:04 AM on January 20, 2015, personnel and apparatus from St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 (Pearl River) with assistance from St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1 (Slidell) responded to the report of a residential structure fire. The fire was located in the 100 block of Maverick Run in the Ponderosa subdivision in Pearl River, Louisiana. The initial dispatch advised responding units that the person who called 9-1-1 reported smoke coming from the mobile home.

Apparatus and personnel arrived on scene and found a mobile home with heavy smoke showing and flames coming out of several windows. Two hose lines were pulled into the front entrance of the mobile home and the fire was located throughout the center of the mobile home, primarily in a center bedroom and the hallway. The fire was knocked down quickly but there was already severe damage from the fire throughout the center of the mobile home with extensive smoke and water damage throughout the remainder of the mobile home.

The cause of the fire at this time appears to be the result of a space heater left on either too close to clothing or other flammables materials. This cause is also consistent with the information from the resident. Fortunately the occupants of the mobile home were not at home at the time of the fire but returned to find the fire and notified a neighbor to call 9-1-1.

The American Red Cross was notified to assist the residence with any immediate needs.
