RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE WITH DAMAGE ISOLATED TO THE KITCHEN
PEARL RIVER, LA – At 2:08 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2015, personnel and apparatus from St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 (Pearl River) and mutual aid from St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1 (Slidell) responded to the report of a residential structure fire with the initial report of the fire being in the kitchen. The fire was located in the 300 block of Yearling Loop in the Ponderosa subdivision in Pearl River, Louisiana.
Apparatus and personnel arrived on scene and found a mobile home with smoke showing. A hose line was pulled into the front entrance of the residence and the fire was quickly located in the kitchen area and extinguished. At the time of the fire, two adults and one toddler where at home but safely exited the home once the fire was discovered. All three were checked out by EMS for very minor smoke inhalation but refused transport to a hospital for further evaluation. After the fire and speaking with the occupants, the fire started on the stove as a grease fire spreading to the wall and cabinets above which is consistent with the investigation.
