VEHICLE IN THE WATER

PEARL RIVER, LA - At approximately 10:45 AM on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 units responded to a vehicle that went off the roadway into the water. The incident occurred on I-59 northbound near mile marker 4. When the river is high, often the sides of the interstate and medians will contain water. Both occupants were able to escape before the vehicle was submerged. No injuries resulted from the incident.

Unknown what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway in this situation but always use extreme caution when traveling. Typically, this might just be a vehicle that went off the road but because of the high water, the danger is increased.
